Washington, DC, February 8, 2017—The National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund is issuing the following statement regarding the confirmation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.

“We are deeply disappointed Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Attorney General and thank those U.S. Senators who opposed his confirmation. Sessions remains an opponent of civil rights with racists views. He’s anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice. He thinks the KKK is ‘OK’, while disparaging the NAACP and ACLU as ‘un-American’. He believes that core pieces of civil rights legislation such as the Voting Rights Act are ‘intrusive’ and has consistently voted against the civil rights legislation he is now charged with enforcing as Attorney General. Despite his confirmation, we are committed to holding Sessions accountable on voting rights; law enforcement; LGBTQ justice; among other issues.”
