WASHINGTON, DC, Aug. 29, 2014 — “As we celebrate Labor Day, let’s also remember that millions of LGBTQ people have no protections against employment discrimination. This means that providing for your loved ones and basic economic security for millions of families are in jeopardy. The good news is that Congress can do something about this when members return after their summer recess. They can support the new Employment Non-Discrimination Act language introduced by U.S. Rep. Jared Polis of Colorado before the House Rules Committee last month that puts LGBTQ people on an equal footing with other protected groups. Americans want this type of insidious discrimination tossed into the trash can of history. It’s time for Congress to act.”
