(WASHINGTON, DC – JUNE 30, 2022) — The following can be attributed to Kierra Johnson, Executive Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund:
“The National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund supports President Biden’s call to eliminate the filibuster and codify Roe v. Wade, reestablishing nearly 50 years of our fundamental right to bodily autonomy and abortion. The Supreme Court issued a sexist, classist and racist decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that must be firmly rejected by Congress. It is clear that they are taking legal and political aim at the most vulnerable people and communities, throwing them to the right-wing zealot wolves ripping apart our rights and freedoms at the state level.
At the same time, I call for bold action by Congress to uphold and expand civil rights for all our people. For the survival of our people and the health of our nation they must address voting rights, democratic reforms, major immigration reform, and the Equality Act.”
